SULLIVAN COUNTY, NY — The Sullivan County Water and Soil Conservation District has started its annual trout stocking program. If you are interested in stocking your pond with trout, fathead minnows, or crawfish this fall, the district will be accepting orders until Monday, September 18. Rainbow and brook trout are being offered for sale.

DINGMANS FERRY, PA — The Pocono Environmental Education Center (PEEC), 538 Emery Rd., has a seris of events planned for the next two weekends that will give you an opportunity to explore on foot or by boat, and get up close with critters from dragonflies to frogs. PIKE COUNTY, PA — Pike County’s Scenic Rural Character Preservation program (SRCP) has dedicated $517,868 for 19 planning projects, benefitting nine municipalities. In addition, SRCP funds have helped to leverage $580,000 in additional state grants, increasing the amount of funding coming into Pike County for planning projects.

LIBERTY, NY — Cornell Cooperative Extension Sullivan County (CCESC)’s 4-H Youth Development Shooting Sports program is bringing its environmental education focus area to the next level by introducing a Trout in the Classroom conservation project for youth, set to begin in the fall of 2017.

Recently I joined students from across the state who converged at the Stone Valley Recreation Area in Petersburg, PA from June 13 and 17. They were selected by the Wildlife Leadership Academy to attend the Bucktails Field School.
