Opening Day. The words opening day mean different things to different people. For example if you’re a Yankees fan, it means opening day at the ball park. But if you are a trout fisherman, fly fisher, or otherwise, it means only one thing: winter is over, and it’s time to load the car and head to the river.

LIVINGSTON MANOR/ROSCOE, NY — It was a day for taking about trout and all things fishy that lure them into the net and creel.
On Saturday, April 7, the Catskill Fly Fishing Center and Museum (CFFCM) of Livingston Manor presented its annual host of events marking the start of the trout fishing season in the Empire State.

LIVINGSTON MANOR, NY — The Catskill Fly Fishing Center and Museum (CFFCM) will unveil the new art exhibit being displayed in the Wulff Gallery, “The Forged Fly,” by artist Matt Hart of Hartist Metals, on Saturday, April 7. The exhibit is part of the museum’s Visiting Artist Series and will be on display through the end of April.
It was orange, tiny and terrifying in the hands of a kid. Something about giving a five-year-old a pointy stick with a metal hook on it made me think twice. Still, she had it and was having the time of her life with it. She picked the pole out at the store by herself. “It’s Tigger, t-i-double-guh-er.”
