Bethel Campground owner arrested for forgery
On Friday October 6, 2017 Detectives from the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office arrested Jennifer Colaiacomo, 43, of the Town of Newburgh for two counts of Forgery in the 2nd degree, a class D Felony. The defendant is the owner of the Bethel Hideaway Campground Resort on Fulton Road in the Swan Lake section of the Town of Bethel. It is alleged that Ms. Colaiacomo altered a noise permit that was issued by the Town of Bethel for an event that took place at the campground in August. The permit was an official government document. The alleged alterations extended the hours of operation and added dates beyond those originally approved by the town board.
“The alterations were meant to deceive law enforcement officers who responded to noise complaints at the campground”, said Sullivan County Sheriff Mike Schiff. “Aside from affecting the neighbors, this placed the members of the Bethel Town Board in a very bad position with the public”. The Sheriff said that Supervisor Dan Sturm couldn’t offer any detailed comments about the campground when members of the public complained at the September 28th town board meeting due to the ongoing criminal investigation. Jennifer Colaiacomo was issued an appearance ticket and released. She is due back in court October 17, 2017 at 5:00 PM.
