Stella was one heck of a storm. I got over 30 inches of snow. I went out to shovel, and when I came back in, the lights went out. I decided to get under the covers and take a nap; when I woke up two hours later, I could not get out my front door. The snow was so high, I had to ram the door with my shoulder to get it open.

I just came back from a seven-day cruise to the Bahamas with my family. It was nice—I did not get sea sick at all, thank God. I had the patch, took pills and had bands on my wrists.
When I sit down to write my column, I always go to the week before to see what I wrote. So funny, last week I was shut in my house because we had a snowstorm, and today it is in the 60s and beautiful out. My windows are open. I just took down my Valentine’s Day decorations and put up decorations for St. Patrick’s Day.
January is over, and I survived the worst part of tax season. Thank you to my deputy tax collector Kristin Lockwood. Town board member Anna Story is always there for me for computer questions.
This week is going to get crazy for me being the Town of Cochecton tax collector. Remember, you have to have your tax payment postmarked by January 31 not to have to pay a penalty.
I hope and pray that everyone had a very Merry Christmas, I was on Long Island with my family. On Christmas Eve we visited the graves, my parents and Tommy’s. On my way back home I stopped and picked up the 2017 tax bills that will be in the mail before the 30th. On the 30th I turn 57. This is where you say, “She does not look that old.”
In case you did not know it, winter is here, and the Christmas parties have begun. On Friday I went to the Catskill Mountains Resort for an office party. They were very nice; I am a very picky eater, and they made what I wanted. On Saturday was The Red Hatters of Lake Huntington’s Christmas party at The Lakeview Luncheonette.
I hope everyone had a very Happy Thanksgiving. As for me, I cooked for 10. Everyone helped with the clean-up and we played games, laughed and had a very fun time. I was out and about shopping on Friday, got great deals and lots of Christmas presents.

It’s getting a little nippy out there, but the fall weather is so nice to be out and about. I stayed home this weekend to get ready for the holidays. My brother Teddy told me I was having Thanksgiving, so I had to get my house in order; little did he know he would be doing most of the work. I think I was a little rude to my family.
