HAWLEY, PA — Woodloch Pines will be debuting a number of new features this year.
Among the first plants to flourish in my garden come spring is lovage (Levisticum officinale). Known to the French as céleri bâtarde, “fake celery,” this stalk-less leafy herb does have a very similar green, slightly salty flavor with a pleasant hint of bitter.
The Haidee post office in Scott Township, Wayne County, PA, was established in by Edwin Tallman, who described how Haidee became Winterdale. “In 1875 I sent a petition to Congress for the establishment of a post route from Thompson, Susq. Co., Pa. to Hancock, NY. I had the honor of naming the Haidee office.
Oh my goodness, it feels like summer is here early. I think I like the cold better—no bugs or allergies. I love to shovel snow when it is not too heavy and wet. I like to put a sweater on to warm up. When it is hot out, there are just so many pieces of clothing you can take off.

Reuben T. “Sonny” Conklin of Narrowsburg, NY passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at Catskill Regional Callicoon Division, Callicoon, NY. He was 78.
Irene M. DeGraw, of Narrowsburg, NY, passed away on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at Julia Ribaudo Nursing Center, Lake Ariel, PA. She was 86.
The only child of the late William and Lowisa M. Dexter Brucher, she was born in Atco, PA on December 9, 1930.
Doris Frey Henry passed away peacefully on May 18, 2017, at Wayne Memorial Hospital, with family at her bedside. She was 94. Doris was born November 24, 1922 at Village View Farm, Beach Lake, PA, the daughter of the late Ethel Mary (Gevert) and Frederick Philip Frey.
