‘Working’ musical at SUNY Sullivan
LOCH SHELDRAKE, NY — The SUNY Sullivan Theater Program will present the musical “Working” in performances from November 9 through 19. Performances will be held in the Seelig Theatre on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. The production is directed and choreographed by Jessica López-Barkl, associate professor of theater and speech at SUNY Sullivan, with music direction by Leon Hilfstein.
Based on the book by Studs Terkel, “Working” paints a vivid portrait of the men and women that the world so often takes for granted: the schoolteacher, the phone operator, the waitress, the millworker, the mason and the housewife, to name a few. Nominated for six Tony Awards, this classic has been updated for a modern age, featuring new songs by Tony Award-winning Lin-Manuel Miranda, as well as favorites by Stephen Schwartz, Craig Carnelia and James Taylor.
The cast comprises SUNY Sullivan students, staff and faculty and community members. The suggested donation for admission is $10. For more information call 505/270-6220.
